Soaring prices of components such as memory chips have shored up the cost of Apple Inc. (AAPL.US)'s upcoming iPhone 18 series, TrendForce's latest smartphone industry research report indicated.
The cost of the iPhone 18 Pro 256GB model, expected to launch in 3Q26, is projected to be about 38% higher than that of the new model launched in the same period last year. As memory chip costs are estimated to continue rising in 2027, the increment in iPhone production costs may further sharpen.
With reference to the pricing strategy of recent MacBook products, Apple may reduce the magnitude of price hikes for the iPhone 18 Pro series by adjusting gross margins to stabilize shipment volumes, TrendForce said.
